Castletown D Day Centre

Located in Portland on the site where in 1944 thousands of American troops from the US 1st and US 29th infantry were sent to disembark for the occupied beaches of France. A huge number of them never returned. On entering you are invited to pick out a name. Would they live or die. We find out as we leave the museum. The museum is very hands on and you are free to explore climb on the vehicles and see how the troops prepared for D Day.
