Steve gives us a breakdown of this really cool 19770 Chevrolet Yenko Nova Deuce that will be auctioned off by Richmond Auctions Oct 24-25. You can register at bid.richmondauctions.com. Here is a description of this lot:
No Reserve. One of just 175 LT/1 'Yenko Deuce' Novas made for 1970 with the COPO (Central Office Production Order) 9737 Sports Conversion Package. As econ-muscle cars became more prevalent in 1970, Don Yenko had the intuition to create an LT-1 powered Chevy Nova that was more affordable to younger performance buyers while making the package more receptive to insurance companies. With the LT-1 350 cubic-inch V8 with its solid-lifter Turbo-Fire V8, it made 360 horsepower, and was a giant killer among so-called big block 'Supercars.' This very rare example has been treated to a comprehensive restoration. The fastback Coupe bodywork is finished in Fathom Blue with contrasting white racing stripes and Yenko lettering. The interior is trimmed in black vinyl and contrasts very well with the overall appearance of this Nova. Along with the COPO conversion, a hood-mounted tachometer, along with the cool graphics, take away from the Yenko Deuce's sleeper image, but these are truly one of a kind 'Junior Muscle Cars'. This example was the 51st of the just 125 COPO Novas ordered by Yenko in the first batch. The car was given Yenko stock number YS-053, and originally sold by Dale Chevrolet of Waukesha, WI. 35 Yenko Novas are believed to have been finished in Fathom Blue; of which 21 were 4-speeds, like this car. VIN: 114270W350058.
