A summary of the components, method and results in replacing the factory installed electrolytic capacitors and installing a three-wire power cable in a 1959 Gibson GA-5. This amp, because its chassis is manufactured in early 1958, lacks the "Skylark" text that is found on later models, including some 1959 models. Gibson could not confirm the date it was sold but the original transformers and speaker date codes are very late 1958 or very early 1959. Accordingly, it was assembled and sold sometime after January 1959 so it can be considered a 1958 or 1959, depending on whether the model year or the actual year sold is one's reference.
