This was the first single - a dance-friendly romantic summer song - from ELIN BRIMHEIM HEINESEN’s long awaited debut album "Handan stjørnurnar" (Beyond The Stars) released Saturday July 7th 2018.
ELIN BRIMHEIM HEINESEN is a Faroese singer and songwriter, who has been an active music artist on the Faroese music scene since the seventies. She is a soloist but has performed with several other artists from time to time – the co-work with Faroese composer/producer Kári Jacobsen being the most well-known, with whom she published their debut album NALJA in 1988, and the co-work with the band Ad Libitum with whom she published the album Yndisløg (Treasured Songs) in 2010.
Although she hasn’t released more than one album until now with (half the) music written and composed by herself, her songs have none the less been very well received and popular in her home country.
Her long-awaited album "Handan stjørnurnar", contains 12 tracks written and composed by herself and is in fact her debut album as a soloist. The song Søti mín is the first single from the album.
The single Søti mín is a dance-friendly uptempo blues track, 4 minutes and 30 seconds long, in a style that some people may not expect from Elin. But Elin sang both blues and jazz in her younger days, so she is no stranger to singing blues. The ensemble Hentze Horns plays the arrangement for wind instruments, that Arnold Ludvig made.
Elin wrote the song, when she and her (then coming, now former) husband had just moved in together. As one understands from the lyrics (if you understand Faroese), they were pretty much in love.
Love often incites creative work and gave me the inspiration for this love song, says Elin, continuing: - When I wrote the song, which is both romantic and maybe a bit erotic as well, I imagined the two of us alone, completely into each other, dancing closely together, where nothing else exists than what we are sensing here and now. I thought this song is good for listening and dancing to this particular season, where the summer's bright nights and colorful vegetation makes us feel intoxicated and the amorins are abound among humans.
