Ingredients for Maavilakku
Raw rice - soak it for 10 minutes
Dry it by spreading it on a white cloth for 10 minutes
Powder it by grinding it in a mixie
There is no practice of doing Maavilakku during Brahmotsav & Mahalapaksham, in general.
Nattu sakkarai (Palm sugar) 3/4 of glass for 1 glass of rice.
Add nattu sakkarai and cardamom with rice flour.
Mix it again in mixie.
After the mixing it spread it on a silver plate or on a banana leaf.
If needed you can add little coconut water with the powder.
I do like a Gopuram of the powder with a dent at the centre.
Take kotta pakku (betel nut) 5nos.
Put thiris in all 5 betel nuts.
Add ghee for lighting.
We can chant Vishnu Sahasranama or any ashtothram.
