What happens when "winter" means something profoundly different in English, Chinese, and Korean? This speaker's journey across languages and cultures unveils how words carry unique emotional and experiential weight. Explore the hidden depths of identity, overcome the fear of linguistic challenges, and discover the extraordinary power of language to reshape perspective.
ennie Noh is a passionate grade 12 student in KCISLK, who never stops challenging herself. As a Korean in Taiwan, she faced many difficulties in language. However, her eagerness to learn and challenge led her to learn new different languages in a short time period. She also loves to push herself into further challenges, as a result, she eventually made improvements both academically and personally.
Her accomplishments, which included receiving AP scholars with distinction, school champion in Pascal math contest, and top 25% in CEMC math contest, prove her hard time challenges in her life. She also became more independent personally by moving from Korea to Taiwan. Additionally, she enjoys sports, especially baseball, leading her for more learning opportunities not restricted to academic fields. Jennie also participates in VEX robotics competitions, allowing her to elaborate her ideas and creativities. She is not afraid of encountering new challenges, pushing herself into the new field of learning. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
