🤔 ABOUT THIS VIDEO 👇
In this video, I talk about how to manage your former peers successfully, as a newly appointed leader/manager. OK, so now you're in charge of all your friends and former colleagues. Great! That was easy part, let me tell you. Now, here comes the hard part. Because you were one of them and they all like and respect you, right? Nope, think again, whether you realize it or not, you are now going to be navigating some tricky waters. If you want this to work at all, there are a few strategies I've used that might be helpful as you start to embrace your new role:
First: You need to brush up on your emotional intelligence skills. This means you have to have candid conversations with all your former buddies. Yes, you have to set the boundaries for the new dynamics of the relationship (manager to employee) going forward.
Second: Embrace you new position. In the words of many today, you are now the "BOSS". You earned this promotion, not only that, you deserve to be there. So, go ahead and own up to the fact that you are now leading people. Your friends especially need you to be the example of a good leaders. So, embrace your command.
Third: You must, I mean you must remain at the cutting edge of leadership principles and strategies. That means cracking open those books, podcast, and other tools to help you grow as a leader. Never, never, stop growing! Another tool, my favorite, seek out a mentor to bounce ideas off of when challenges arise. This will save you a lot of time and frustration trying to figure it all out yourself.
The mindsets that I'm going to share with you will help you figure out how to be a better manage your former peers. Ready to discover the 3 mindset changes that made me rich? Watch this video!
Like I explain in the video, I know exactly what you're going through because I went through it too. I think all leaders at some point in their careers have gone through this or is going through it.
