1080° Avalanche | Silver Storm ~ 4 ~ Extreme Match Race

1080° Avalanche, also known as Silver Storm in Japan, is a Snowboarding game for the Nintendo GameCube and the second (as well as last) of a series. This game wasn't received very well and the series ended as a result.

Extreme Difficulty turns the world right side left. It brings back some of the hardest maps from previous difficulties with a twist, combined with the strongest AIs the game has to offer. They have their best boards and will take fast routes without making many mistakes, so you really have to know what you are doing to stay ahead of them.

This is very different from my usual uploads, but I have some very fond childhood memories of this game and had an urge to play and record it. I live in the mountains, so the sceneries represented here always felt very nice to me.

In this game, you race against other boarders in match stages before trying to survive a final challenge. The maps all feature multiple interconnected paths, some of which are quite hidden, and doing some of the harder ones correctly can save you a lot of time in exchange for taking a risk. I generally show off the path through each map that I find most interesting, not necessarily the fastest.

The controls for the game are pretty involved, having you time button presses for tricks as well as for not landing face first in the snow whenever you do a simple jump. Doing tricks fills up your power meter, which gives you a shield that either saves you from a single fall or pushes your opponent to the ground if you collide with them.
