This is Not a good position in BJJ (Breaking Guard Effectively)

One of the more frustrating positions for me at times has been breaking the Full Guard. You could make it case to call it Escaping the Full Guard.

Either way, it's a position that I find more frustrating than most and always have. The person on the bottom of Guard is in the dominant position and has such a strong ability to control movement. And I like to move a lot so this bothers me.

Recently I got a question from John who was asking about tips on breaking and passing the Full Guard during his BJJ training and he made reference to a video I posted.

In that previous video I show a couple tips and mistakes when it comes to breaking the Full Guard open.

In John's question he asked for technical advice for his Brazilian Jiu-jitsu related problem. What I share in this video is more of a mindset change.

The reason for this is that my frustration and issues breaking the guard open were reduced dramatically once I changed the way I went about breaking the Guard and the way I thought about the position.

In the past while doing Brazilian Jiujitsu. I sort of saw myself in a good spot when I was on top in the Guard. But a quick look at the positioning of the hips will reveal that in BJJ, it's actually not a good position.

If you were to flip the position over. You'd be in the bottom of Mount.

So if you're someone that is experiencing issues and frustration working on the top of someones Full Guard. Hopefully the tips in this video will help!
