Kampung Boy Series 2 intro

Loosely based on a series of graphics novels drawn by cartoonist Lat, "Kampung Boy" was a Malaysian animated television series. Originally broadcast in the late-90s on Astro Ria, the series followed the adventures of a young boy, Mat, and his family who lived in a traditional 'kampung' (village). The show was animated in the Philippines with the scripts handled by a team in Los Angeles, under the strict supervision of Lat, and voice recording done in Kuala Lumpur by local actors in English. The series reruns regularly on Astro Ceria, however it is not available on DVD.

Season 2 sported a much more slicker art style, with an opening much more elaborately animated than the actual show. Plotlines still focused on the urban/modern lifestyle contrast of the last season however the overall feel of the show became zanier (one episode is a strange take-off of Little Shop of Horrors).
