Why Working for NOVA, Gaba, and AEON Sucks!

Regardless of what you choose to do if you are working for any of these companies or planning to remember it is thanks to them that you obtained your work visa and were able to quickly move to Japan or change your visa status. You don't have to work here forever. See it as an exchange. It is really a win-win situation for you. You get to stay in Japan legally and you get work experience to add to your resume. There are better jobs in Japan! Don't let a bad experience at these companies scare you away!

These are all entry level jobs that require no previous work experience or job history. They will hire just about anyone that applies as long as you can speak English at a native fluent level and preferably have a bachelors degree or are currently living in Japan on a spouse visa etc..

If you are smart and choose to take my advice about getting a degree in education then you'd only work these jobs to get your foot in the door and apply for other jobs after you get to Japan and have gained work experience from being employed here.

Some of the things that I see people complain about aren't problems or rules that are exclusive to these dispatch eikaiwa companies rather they are cultural differences between working in Japan and working in America or Europe.
I have worked countless jobs all across Japan and I can assure you that a lot of your complaints about these 3 companies are true across the board with any Japanese school.
Employee are expected to work overtime, have little to no paid time off etc..


What Do People Typically Hate?

1. Expectation to do more than just teaching (cleaning and advertising etc.)
2. Lack of bonuses and raises
3. Lack of vacation days
4. Lack of freedom
5. Bad management
6. Inconsistent management
7. Inconsistent teaching and working environments
8. Overpriced housing (housing in bad condition)
9. Lack of western furnishings in company apartments/ not enough space
10. Not enough time to plan lessons
The list can go on much longer these are just the things I see most often that come to mind.
