Justin Furstenfeld and Ryan Delahoussaye of Blue October performed a rarely played tune, “The 21st” at our 2023 Songwriting masterclass retreat in the Catskills Mountains.
This song is a throwback from the band’s first album, The Answers (1998). While these songs can be interpreted many ways, I understand it to be about the long-term effects of living with a loved one who faces his own demons that are kept at bay by prescriptions/rX refills on the 21st of each month. #blueoctober #justinfurstenfeld #livemusic #acousticguitar
