San Jose, CA KSJC/SJC - Nov 16th, 1999 -back when it used to rain in San Jose, an early AM freighter arrival on Runway 30L shows a Southwest 737-700 departing on short spacing as the smoky DC-8 is on final over downtown San Jose - followed by a Gemini Air Cargo "DC-10 Heavy" about 10 miles back. The DC-8 appears to land a bit long and "immediately" drops the nose gear fast and full braking and flaps/thrust diverters deployed on the DC-8 as the Pilots adjusts on the wet runway. 500ft more on that long touchdown and this jet would have gone through the fence. I could tell filming this that the DC-8 was coming in hot and the Pilot was running out of runway fast and might not make Cargo exit. Well the Pilot decided to use the small runway extension do to speed and braking and ended up going all the way to the end of the runway - extremely rare to see this at San Jose, As the DC-8 Pilot used the end taxi circle, the Gemini Air Cargo DC-10-30 (N607GC "Brooke") was on final ,another Jet take off in process - SJC Tower had to hold the DC-8 at the end while the "Gemini 10 Heavy" landed 30L sporting wing vapor vortices due to the rain and humidity. The Gemini 10 Heavy also landed a bit long and braked hard, note the water spray from the engine thrust diverters as the DC-10-30 rolled to the cargo exit 'Sno-coning' all 3 Engines while braking down off Runway 30L. After the DC-10 turned right onto the old cargo taxi exit - BAX Global DC-8 was able to cross Runway 30L and head to the cargo ramp. Hi-8mm video by Tom Vance.
