Super Mario Land DX (Game Boy Color) Playthrough

This is a patched version of "Super Mario Land" (retitled "Super Mario Land DX") that turns the game into a Game Boy Color game. It adds color and changes the graphics to give the game a modern look. The patch is version 2.0 released 20 April 2022.

"Super Mario Land" is a classic platformer video game developed by Nintendo for the Game Boy handheld console. Released in 1989, it marks Mario's debut on the portable gaming scene. In the game, players control Mario as he embarks on a quest to rescue Princess Daisy from the clutches of the enigmatic alien villain, Tatanga.

The gameplay closely follows the established Mario formula, with players navigating through four different worlds, each consisting of three levels and a boss battle. The game introduces unique settings and enemies, distinct from the Mushroom Kingdom, such as the ancient ruins of Sarasaland. Mario gains power-ups like the Super Mushroom, which makes him larger, and the Superball Flower, which allows him to throw bouncing superballs.

The portable nature of the Game Boy influenced the design, resulting in slightly simplified graphics compared to the NES games, but the charm and essence of Mario's adventures remained intact. The levels are designed with precision, offering platforming challenges, enemy encounters, and hidden secrets.
