Salmonellosis is a very common infection in pigeons, and can cause severe disease and death in young and adult birds. Infections tend to spread in the flock and between flocks especially during the summer period. Many infections are "latent" meaning present, but not causing any obvious disease at the moment. Poor breeding and homing results maty well be less obvious results from infections. Checking a couple of birds regularly during the breeding and flying season may be the best way to monitor this infection.
