DESY, the Deutsche Elektronen-Synchroton, welcomes this year, more than 100 summer students from 32 nations. For eight weeks, the young group stays at DESY sites in Hamburg and Zeuthen (near Berlin) to work on projects including particle accelerators, particle and astroparticle physics as well as photon science. In the video, Summer School organizer Doris Eckstein talks about the unique opportunities that summer students have at DESY.
Bulgarian summer student Aleksandrina Nikolova studies physics in London. Shortly before the end of the DESY Summer School, the participant is very content. Her stay has convinced her to apply for a PhD position at DESY next year.
