Flying United's Second-Longest Flight | San Francisco to Singapore 787-9 Trip Report [UA29]

Have you ever wondered what 16 hours crammed in the back of United economy is like? I found out so you never have to! Back in August, I flew United from San Francisco to Singapore as part of a $750 trip from Toronto to Singapore to Vancouver. This was a bare bones economy ticket, so preferred seating was pretty much out of the question. That meant that fresh off a 5-hour trip in Air Canada economy from Toronto, I had the pleasure of cramming into a 31’ x 17’ seat that would be my home for most of an entire day.

Other than showing you what United’s ultra-long haul economy product is like, I wanted to give you some of my favourite tips and tricks for surviving 10hr+ flights in the back. If you have any of your own tips to share, drop them in the comments below!

THE TICKET
I paid $785 (CAD) for this ticket, which was from Toronto to Singapore through San Francisco, and returning to Vancouver through Tokyo on ANA. This came after a few weeks searching for a fun trip on ITA Matrix, and I had to book it through a travel agent. Luckily, I had an amazing one with Andrew at RTW Travel.
