This was one of those days with dementia — the kind you truly cannot make up. #onthisday
I stopped by my house with my mom just so she could use the bathroom. In a matter of minutes, two vases were broken. I finally got her outside, and she decided she wanted to drive the car. 😩
I had to think fast to redirect that situation… only for her to grab my side mirror like she did the vases.
She was pushing me to my breaking point.
Caregiving is full of love, patience, and moments of grace — but it also comes with stress, anxiety, and very real limits. This is unfiltered dementia caregiving, where not every moment is pretty and not every reaction is perfect.
We were supposed to go out to eat, but I opted for McDonald’s and returned her to the facility because sometimes choosing peace is the only option left.
If you are caring for a parent with dementia, memory loss, or Alzheimer’s, please know:
You are not weak!
You are not alone!
And snapping doesn’t mean you don’t love them!
This channel documents caregiving out loud — the real moments, the hard ones, and the ones you won’t see in brochures.
