Putin & Xi Jinping Plan Nuclear Showdown, Iran Joins As Trump Heads To Asia for ASEAN Summit?

Russia, China, and Iran have jointly issued a letter to the UN nuclear watchdog, declaring that all restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program under UN Resolution 2231 have officially expired. In the letter, the trio also claimed that the UN's authority to monitor Tehran’s nuclear activities has ended. Moscow and Beijing are backing Iran’s claim that the 2015 nuclear deal, or JCPOA, is no longer binding, while slamming Europe’s attempt to reimpose sanctions as “illegal.” The announcement comes just as President Trump cancels his planned meeting with Vladimir Putin over the Ukraine war and imposes new sanctions on Russia’s oil sector. Meanwhile, Trump’s trade showdown with Xi Jinping continues, with both sides preparing for a crucial summit on October 30.
