I experienced my 2nd tire failure with the OEM 21” Arachnids on my Model S Plaid. The inside edge of the rear passenger tire wore through the cords like they did on my last set of Michelin PS4S tires on the 21” Arachnids. This time, the tire failed with 10k miles (10392 miles) on it. The first tire that failed had 18k miles on it – I wasn’t expecting it so soon. Both times, the tire failed in November when the outside temps dropped and my tire pressures fell below 40 psi.
If you have the 21” Arachnids – check the inside edge of your rear tires so that they don’t fail on you when you are driving! The tires require a close inspection to see the inside edge. A casual glance may not be enough.
