This time, we will introduce the autumn leaves at Imakoyasan in Sera County, Hiroshima Prefecture during the day.
According to the Konkoyasan Engi, the temples of Konkoyasan are sacred sites of Shingon Buddhism that were founded by Kobo Daishi Kukai in 822, and will celebrate their 1,200th anniversary in 2022.
Kishu Koyasan established "Kon Koyasan" on Mount Kabuto as its western head temple and local base. The character "now" means new.
Mount Koya flourished with seven halls and 12 temples built around Ryuge-ji Temple, Kongo-ji Temple, and Nyu-jinja Shrine. However, due to natural disasters and man-made disasters such as the wars between the Mori and Amago clans during the Sengoku period and the great fires of the Edo period, all that remains today are the main gate (Nio-mon), Anraku-in Temple, Fukuchi-in Temple, the main hall of Ryuge-ji Temple, the Kannon Hall, the Miedo Hall, the Goma Hall, the Jyuo-do Hall, Nyu-jinja Shrine, and the bell tower.
In addition, Mount Koya today is home to many cultural assets, including two "Eleven-faced Kannon standing statues" (Heian period) that are the principal images of the Kannon Hall (main hall), and the "lion's head" (Kamakura period) at Nyu Shrine, all of which have been designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan.
