Watch U Strappin'?! Ep. 515 - Urban Gentry X Lorier Merlin on Atelier De Griff Leather Bund Strap

Another Flieger Friday, another time to bring bring out The Urban Gentry X Lorier Merlin Weems-style Pilot Watch. For a visual change, I have it on a distressed leather bund strap from Atelier De Griff which I bought several years ago.

I typically don't wear bund straps. Has to be the right watch and more importantly the right designed bund strap.

The quick reason I bought this particular bund strap was that it has an exceptionally thin leather panel piece which adds the most minimal height to the overall wrist wearing appearance.

I also like the straight cut of the leather panel. This removes the excess "bulge" material around the watch which most bunda typically have. This keeps the overall appearance more compact. Because the watch appears slightly larger because it extends past the edges of the bund panel piece, it makes the bund look smaller in comparison.

It's a good looking combination that is easy to wear, doesn't add that much visual bulk and comfortable.

The quality of the leather and build seems very good..it's lasted me since 2019. It has gained some patina and distress.and looks that much better for it.

I have to admit, Atelier De Griff's website isn't the easiest to navigate. This particular bund strap may no longer be available at this time. However, they have had some pretty cool unique strap designs at reasonable prices. Some notably good looking ones for Omega Speedmaster. Their inventory goes in and out of stock. Some straps are never made again. Still, it may be worth a look if you're curious.

FYI, when I refer to the "panel piece", I am referring to the largest leather piece that is what's in-between the watch and wrist and the straps are interwoven through.
