Filmed by my grandfather Gus Martens in 1946 or possibly 1947. My dad appears as one of the white shirted choirboys. Camp Man, which was renamed Kernochan in the 1950s, was part of the Ten Mile River (TMR) Scout Camps in Sullivan County, NY. Five camps, each serving one of the five boroughs of New York City, comprised the TMR. The confusingly named Camp Man didn't serve the scouts from Manhattan, but rather the ones from the Borough of Queens. (It was named for a benefactor with the last name of Man.) Camp Kernochan has been closed for a few years now, but other camps in the TMR are still in operation. I wonder if the chapel is still there.
