This Hike Nearly Broke Us – Dominica’s Boiling Lake

This might be the hardest hike in the Caribbean.
We trekked for over 7 hours through Dominica’s jungle — crossing rivers, climbing steep ridges, and passing through the Valley of Desolation — all to reach the mysterious Boiling Lake, one of only two in the world.

With our local guide Pattison leading the way, we experienced raw volcanic power up close: steam vents, sulfur pools, and landscapes that felt like another planet. Was it worth it? You’ll have to see for yourself.
