它不是由贵族制定,也不是王权授予;
✨ English Description
In 1620, the Mayflower was blown off course by a violent storm.
Instead of reaching Virginia—with its English laws and established governance—the Pilgrims landed on the desolate shores of Massachusetts, a place with no royal authority, no charter, no officials, and no legal structure.
In this vacuum of law and order, tensions rose.
Some passengers claimed: “The King’s law has no authority here.”
At this critical moment, William Bradford and the Pilgrim leaders proposed something revolutionary:
If we do not covenant together in faith, we will fall apart in freedom.
Thus, 41 ordinary men signed the Mayflower Compact—
the first political covenant in world history created not by kings or nobles, but by common people freely joining together to form a civil community.
Its principles shaped the DNA of the United States:
Government by the consent of the governed
A multi-ethnic society held together by covenant, not blood
Liberty tied to responsibility
Equality under the law
A new civilization began to grow on the cold shores of Plymouth.#五月花公约 #MayflowerCompact #清教徒 #美国精神 #AmericanHistory #契约精神
