Family Emotional Shockwave

In this video excerpt, Dr. Bowen describes what he called the “shock wave phenomenon". The term describes the cascade of negative events that routinely occurs throughout the family after the death of a family member who is important to the family system. “These kinds of human problems follow a death in time sequence in a fair percentage of families".

The Bowen Center is a non for profit dedicated to the development of Bowen family systems theory into a science of human behavior; to assist individuals, families, communities, and organizations in addressing major life changes through understanding and improvising human relationships.
