As you all know, Goku Black can get a pretty cool 50/50 with his ex Instant Transmission by using a “Super Jump Install”. This can be pretty tricky, especially for newer players.

So today, we are going to look at what OTHER mixups can he get with more “simple” execution. The easier it is to execute, the more consistent it will be in actual games! In this video, we will discuss midscreen mixups with 214L and corner mixups with Black’s 214H. Let me know what you guys think of the video. Don’t forget to like and subscribe!

0:13 Assists Usage
You need at least 42 frames of blockstun in order for this to work as intended, please consult the Assist Frame Data document I’ve linked above. This makes the Left/Right very tight, practically a 50/50 if done right.
However, if your assists is less than 42 but higher than 35 frames, you can try to “establish” respect first. It doesn’t have enough blockstun to be “real”, since the gap would be big enough to be 2H’ed. Instead of going for the Left/Right overhead, go low instead. This gives you enough time to counterhit their 2H attempt, which will then make them start to respect you more (since they don’t want to get hit by a medium starter). Once they’re more respectful, then you can start to go for the Left/Right.
Of course, if they don’t know that they can 2H then you don’t need to condition respect.

1:41 How to Perform it
First, learn the timing for your assist into 214L. For me, I like calling Kefla at the same time that I press 5S, then I go into 214L. You need the buildup to the 214L to be gapless so that they can’t escape of course.
Now for the Left/Right. Let Goku Black fall a little bit after the 214L. After a slight delay, air dash (66) j.M j.S for a cross-up and delay slightly more into an air dash j.M for the same side mix. The side you hit simply depends on how much of a delay you have. Make sure that you still have a slight delay for the cross-up so that it still looks ambiguous. Once you condition the Left/Right, your low options and DR option starts to become more effective.
For the cross-up to hit, you need to slightly delay the j.M so that it doesn’t whiff. In order to continue into a combo, you must micro-dash after landing in order to continue it. This might be the “hardest” part about it besides the timing, so make sure to practice!
Height is also another variable: huge characters like Z Broly, Cooler, etc can’t be dashed over, and you need to delay both L/R options against smaller characters like Krillin.

4:23 Why it Works
There needs to be a small gap so that cross-up protection doesn’t come in (automatically blocking L/R). However, this gap is too small to be 2H’ed since 2H is only air-invul on frame 4. Essentially, you hit them within those 4 frames: making other 4 Frame reversals and vanish useless if done correctly.
However, there’s still a gap, so they can reflect right?
Not really: they still need to pick a side to reflect. If you cross-up, their inputs will get crossed-up and they will get a ki blast instead of reflect: giving you the hit.
What about level 3?
Air dash j.M j.S is safe: j.S doesn’t come out if they reversal, giving you enough time to block. The same applies to frame 1 DPs, but they are harder to “see” to block because they don’t have a freeze-frame that Level 3s have due to their cinematics.
Black doesn’t have a consistent cross-up j.M, but 214L places him in the perfect spot to land the cross-up. Assists also provide a little bit more push-back, which places Black a bit further: making the cross-up easier.

6:20 Corner Mixups
In the corner, you must use 214H. In fact, with 214H in the corner, you no longer get the cross-up since the assist would push them back into the corner (214H air dash j.M does hit off level 3). So instead, you still have the delayed air dash j.M for the same-side option, but for the corner cross-up we do [earlier] air dash j.S j.214M this time. It’s easy to convert into a combo in the corner, dealing up to 50%+ damage with a level 3. j.S is also faster than j.M, but it’s harder to continue into a combo midscreen.
You can apply this mixup midscreen, but you’d need to use j.214H after the j.S, then SD j.LL j.2H dj.LLL for SKD. However, this requires a full bar, so it’s up to you.
Don’t forget about the Low and DR option after your 214H as well after conditioning them.
You can also try 214L for a more safe set-up, where you rely on conditioning to open them up.
His command grab can also be used before the assist hits, but this is very gimmicky.
