North Carolina's Upcoming Legislative Session: What's In It for People with I/DD?
Presented by: Jen Mahan, Director of Public Policy, Autism Society of North Carolina
During this session, participants will understand the current legislative and public policy issues going on in North Carolina that impact people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The discussion will include legislative initiatives, recent changes to our services system, and other timely topics. Participants will learn how advocacy can make a difference and where to look for more information and resources on these topics.
Jennifer Mahan has worked in legislative, grassroots and one-on-one advocacy programs for over 30 years, and has been the Director of Public Policy at Autism Society of North Carolina since 2010. Her background in human services policy including developmental disabilities, mental health, addiction, low-income benefits programs, consumer advocacy, and information and referral systems has driven her passion for creating a just, fair and equitable world for people with disabilities.
