How To Check Your Jeep Cylinder Heads For Cracks

So in the shop I was working on a 4.7 Chrysler engine. And I thought I would show you some of the ways that I use to check cylinder heads for warpage. It’s always a good idea to take your cylinder heads The machine shop but if that’s not a possibility then these are some of the ways that you can do it at home. This information is pretty good for most at home novice mechanics this is not the way that they do it at the machine shop. And the tools that I’m using in the video are not super complicated or super technical but a machine shop will have specific tools that are designed for checking for warpage and cracks.

So don’t get all super professional serious on me that I showed you other ways to look at it ……, that are 100% not by the book…. This is here just to inspire people to do things themselves. And is not 100% precise way of checking these but it will make you feel more confident if you end up taking your cylinder heads to the machine shop or at the very least just putting them back on.

You can also use these procedures to check for plain on the engine block but engine blocks very seldomly warp.. this information pertains to the 3.7 V6 jeep dodge and Chrysler, this information also pertains to the 4.7 Jeep Dodge and Chrysler engine cylinder heads but can be used on any make and model.
