The sleep of reason produces monsters. And reason, as we well know, can be put to sleep by many things. And many other things can shroud it in fog, making it inaccessible.
The Lee Harvey Oswald (Daniel Webber) portrayed in Hulu's 11.22.63 is a complex and contradictory character, reserved and introverted, often lost in his thoughts and books. He is not easy to approach, and entering his world or his mind is nearly impossible. Neither his wife Marina, whom he continuously mistreats and overwhelms, nor his mother Marguerite, who hopes that the child she once knew still lives in the man he has become, can do so.
This man is an idealist. He has a critical view of society and authority, which has led him to take an interest in politics and social issues. He is characterized by a strong determination to follow his convictions, even when it makes him unpopular or isolates him. Sometimes, his determination turns into stubbornness, and his passion for the causes he supports makes him lose sight of reality or the consequences of his actions.
Thus, he often becomes burdensome and unbearable even to those close to him. It is not always easy to understand what truly motivates him, but one thing is certain: he is not a superficial person. He has a very vulnerable side, which he rarely shows, but it emerges when he feels misunderstood or alone. In those moments, a child who is just trying to find his place in the world collides head-on with a despondent young man who has realized that no one will ever listen to him, no one will ever take him seriously.
Lee is no longer a child with great potential and a big smile on his face. He is a desperate man atop the Texas School Book Depository on November 22, 1963. Perhaps he is not the only desperate man that day. But he is still a lonely man. And this side of him can be very, very dangerous...
