Canon R50 V and HDR Photography: Tips and Tricks | 4K HDR Video

How do you start using HDR on your camera and give your photos that extra wow factor? Why do photos from high-end mobile phones often show glowing skies and vibrant landscape colors, while “proper” cameras can’t achieve the same look on their own? I filmed a video in HDR using the Canon R50 V to show you exactly how it works — with the help of the “mysterious” HDR PQ format as a practical example. Please note that this technique isn’t exclusive to Canon—any camera can achieve it using RAW files. I’ll show you how.

Important note: this is an HDR video. If you’re watching it on an HDR display, you’ll see the photos and videos in their full quality. You’ll notice it, for example, in the glowing highlights and perfectly white clouds. That said, it’s a bit of a risky experiment — on an older computer, for instance, the video might not look right. So if possible, I recommend watching it on a phone or a TV that supports HDR.
