Konektis - Walk out on the Water - Royal Canoe, arr. Geung Kroeker-Lee

Konektis is releasing this video with great pride in our resiliency, creativity, and teamwork.

Our theme this fall was to work towards joy and not stress. Our 2020-2021 plan has our year divided into thirds - first - outdoor video work, second - virtual choir projects, third - hopeful for a large late spring concert outdoors.

So, in late September and early October……..

Our early start time (due to outdoor lighting) conflicting with University classes
key members were stressed in this period and some unable to participate
Key members missing for recording session
Key members missing video shoot
Code Orange in Brandon early on - so started late September with hosting two short masked socially distanced outdoor (freezing) rehearsals in small groups
A 30 minute masked and socially distanced recording session
Teaching choreo for 30 minutes in the Sobey’s parking lot on the night of the video shoot
A short night of video shooting - needing to be after work and before the early sunset
Blocking off the streets in Brandon, paperwork was completed, but last minute the city was unable to deliver the many barricades - had to quickly do ourselves

Sounds difficult - yes, but it all added up to a really fun project and Indeed we did enjoy some freedom from perfection with the very short time frame and the many challenges/restrictions placed upon us.

Our second video release coming soon will be of Elaine Hagenberg’s GORGEOUS O Love with Justine Burke at the piano and both BU Professor Leanne Zacharius and her student, Sheva Schwartz, on cello. We can’t wait to see the finished product, as it was the most incredibly lovely outdoor setting/concept for this - a truly magical night…and yes, freezing again. Hope the shivering isn’t that visible. Keep an eye out for this soon!
