Heilongjiang is the boundary river between China and Russia. In the winter of 2024, when the Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China is covered in snow for thousands of miles and ice stretches as far as the eye can see, I traveled north along the Heilongjiang River, visiting cities, counties, and villages along the Chinese side of the border to explore the local customs and the lives of the border residents in the China-Russia border area. My first stop was Xunke County, known as the "Home of Red Agate in China." After that, I continued to Heihe City, the northernmost city in China, bordering the Russian city. Heihe is also the most important China-Russia trade port in Northeast China.
