I review the Warner studio label release of Mel Brooks‘s classic blazing saddles on 4K UHD. This is a film that has long been in need of a new transfer and has been missing. It’s original mono mix since the laser disk era. Thankfully, the new scan is done very well and the UHD itself includes the original mono track and is one of the most confidently done Warner studio label releases I’ve seen. Unfortunately, every bit of their usual tomfoolery is here though it’s at a much lower level than usual. It makes the release overall possible and one I can recommend but with a number of reservations. None of these issues should be here as all were avoidable.
