There is Effective Cover and Clear Cover in RCC, in analysis and design of structural rcc elements we take effective cover into consideration, the basic difference between between effective cover and clear cover is as below
Effective Cover : Distance measured from the face of the member to the center of reinforcement
Clear Cover : Distance measured from the face of the member (without plaster) to the nearest surface of the reinforcement
