It starts like a cold – fever, runny nose, cough, and sore eyes – but then comes the rash.
🔴 The measles rash is red, blotchy and usually starts on the face and neck before spreading down the body. It is a non-blanching rash which means it doesn’t fade when you press it. It often appears around day 3–5 of illness.
⚠️ If you suspect your child has measles:
➡️ Keep them home and away from others
➡️ Call your GP before visiting so they can take precautions
➡️ Seek urgent medical care if you're concerned
✅ And importantly – check that your child’s vaccinations are up to date! Measles is highly contagious, but preventable with the MMR vaccine.
