Inside Tsunza: Kenya's Hidden Coastal Treasure

Tsunza in Kwale County is one of Kenya’s hidden treasures, a peninsula surrounded by lagoons and mangrove forests, where life has always flowed with the tides. This is home to a community whose identity, culture, and survival are deeply tied to the sea.

For generations, the waters have provided food, work, and connection. But as pressures on the coastline grow, so do the challenges faced by the people who depend on it every day.

In March 2025, Furaha & Baraka Farms joined hands with the Tsunza community, not as visitors, but as partners. Together, we walked the forests and shorelines, listened to lived experiences, and shared a vision to restore what nature once gave so freely, while strengthening livelihoods and protecting a way of life. Since then, we have become part of this community.

This story goes beyond landscapes and conservation efforts. It is a story of people, resilience, and partnership. A story of a community standing at the intersection of tradition and change, working together to secure their future.
