In our school, we employ a variety of fun and engaging activities to help children grasp these concepts. Here are some examples:
Identifying Toys
Children are provided with a box of toys - a doll, a ball, a bag, among others, and are asked to choose the correct name of the toy and write it below the picture. This activity helps in enhancing their vocabulary and recognition skills.
Body Parts and Family Members
Similarly, we have activities where children are shown pictures of various body parts and family members. They are then asked to write the correct name under each picture, helping them understand human anatomy and family structures.
Living and Non-Living Things
We also introduce the concept of living and non-living things to the children. They are asked to indicate 'L' for living and 'N' for non-living things, which helps them understand the basic distinction between animate and inanimate objects.
Colours and Spellings
Children are taught about different colours like Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, Black, White, and Brown. They are then given blanks to fill with the correct name of the colour, helping them learn the names and spellings of different colours.
Classification of Flowers, Fruits, and Vegetables
Our students learn to identify and classify different flowers, fruits, and vegetables. They connect pictures to their respective names and classify them into three categories - Flowers, Fruits, and Vegetables.
Animal Spellings and Bird Names
We have engaging exercises involving animals and birds as well. Children are given incomplete spellings of animals like 'H.....R.....E' (Horse), and 'G.....A......' (Goat), where they have to fill in the missing letters. They also write the names of birds inside given boxes to enhance their familiarity with different bird species.
