Regent College Professor Emeritus Eugene Peterson reflects on the influence, impact and legacy of his parents within his own life. Dr. Peterson taught at Regent between 1993 and 1998 as the James M. Houston Professor of Spiritual Theology. In 2013 Regent college announced the establishment of an endowed chair named after Eugene and Jan Peterson in Theology and the Arts. In addition to being a poet, author, and scholar, Dr. Peterson is also an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). He is the founder of Christ Our King Presbyterian Church in Maryland, where he was the pastor for twenty-nine years. Dr. Peterson has also been an Assistant Professor at the New York Theological Seminary. He has written numerous books and is probably best known for developing a paraphrase of the Bible called "The Message".
