Tsonga, or Xitsonga, is a Bantu language spoken primarily in South Africa, Mozambique, Eswatini, and Zimbabwe, where it is officially recognized as "Shangani." It is mutually intelligible with Tswa and Ronga, collectively referred to as the “Tswa-Ronga” languages. Xitsonga is spoken by approximately 7 million people, half of those as a second language.
