My #destinationzero entry
What started out as a fictional idea for my undergraduate thesis is now something I'm trying to turn into a reality.

The Fashion Industry generates so much textile waste with each garment they make and most of which have no idea what to do with the remains. At the same time, there's a growing culture of throwing away barely used clothing due to the easy access to new garments everyday. There is a lack of awareness in the capacity of fashion to exploit not just the environment but it's workers as well.

This is why I'd like to propose the Re Center in Taytay as a way of reaching every Filipino and helping them start their journey in lessening their waste while also seeing the sustainability is actually something they can incorporate into their daily lives. It will also enrich the textile community in Taytay as people understand how much it takes to create every garment they buy from their stores.

This has been something that I wanted to do for so long but I didn't have the capacity to so I hope this grant will be the first step I will take into making a mark on lessening the waste the fashion industry creates and make sustainability accessible to every Filipino.
