Black Lives Matter to Las Vegas | Las Vegas Protests

The protests in Las Vegas are not over, in fact they are gaining more momentum and organization. The protests started just a few days before Las Vegas’s reopening (June 4th, 2020) and have been popping up around the Strip, Downtown, City Hall, and even local Las Vegas parks.

Also, I want to address lightheartedness in the beginning of the video and hope it doesn't come off as insensitive. Truly, it was the result of an emotionally exhausting week filled with anger, brokenhearted-ness, and helplessness as that week (the week of George Floyd's murder) continued to unfold. One of those times where you've been feeling so much heaviness you eventually don't know what to do other than just laugh everything off even though you're dying inside, yennnnnno?

Anyway, I wanted to share this experience because unfortunately, a lot of popular local headlines have seemed to put a spotlight on the violence, looting, and property destruction that would take place…. AFTER the main protests. This ultimately causes community divide and negative attention/attitude towards these outcries.

I wanted to emphasize the overall sense of accountability for peace by the protesters here, so please don’t be mislead.

Also, this is not the first time I’ve had to address some of y’alls’ racist, derogatory comments on here but let me say it again: DO NOT BE ASSHOLES. LAWDY. As always I welcome healthy discourse and discussion but if we’re going to talk, let’s make it productive and talk about moving forward, analyzing root causes, and creating SOLUTIONS.
