Dr. Justin Presseau is a Senior Scientist and Director of the Methodological & Implementation Research Program in the Clinical Epidemiology Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and an Associate Professor in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa. Trained as a health psychologist, his work sits at the intersection of behavioural science, implementation science, and health services research. His research program focuses on understanding and changing behaviour across multiple levels: supporting members of the public to be more active and less sedentary, helping patients with issues like medication adherence and cardiac rehabilitation, and improving the clinical behaviours of health professionals so that guideline-recommended care is routinely delivered in practice. He completed his PhD in Psychology at the University of Aberdeen and previously held a lectureship in Health Psychology at Newcastle University in the UK before moving to Ottawa in 2015. Since then, he has built a prolific program of work on theory-based behaviour change interventions, the role of habit and automaticity, and the design and evaluation of implementation strategies across a wide range of clinical areas.
Dr. Presseau also plays a key leadership role in the field as an Associate Editor for Implementation Science and serves on editorial boards in health psychology, further shaping how we study and do behaviour change and implementation.
