Don’t Skimp on the Easy Stuff || Farm Work & Flatbread || January 2026

Andy’s outside burying posts to get ready for a farm-use meter box, while I’m inside working in the kitchen.

I’m making sourdough flatbread, and we are turning it into personal flatbread pizzas for supper tonight.

Sourdough Flatbread Recipe
2 cups flour
1 cup sourdough discard
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk

Mix the above ingredients. Knead for a couple of minutes. Cover and rise for at least 2 hours. Divide into equal parts. Roll flat. Add a small amount of grease to preheated cast iron pan or griddle (I used butter). Cook each flat bread for a couple minutes on each side or until it starts to lightly brown.

Deer Jerky Marinade
1 1/2 cups soy sauce
1 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
2 tbsp vinegar
2 tbsp black pepper
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt

Meagan’s Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 cups AP flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
12 Tbsp melted butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 whole egg
1 egg yolk
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Set oven to 325 degrees. Combine flour, salt and baking soda in a small bowl. In a larger separate bowl combine melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until smooth. Add egg, yolk and vanilla to sugar mixture, mix until all is combined. Add dry ingredients slowly to wet ingredients. Mix until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips. Spoon out mixture using a tablespoon onto cookie sheet. Bake for around 15 minutes until the edges are slightly brown and middle is still gooey. Allow to cool on cookie sheet. Enjoy!
