The Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer, is an adventure bike with a shaft drive and a 30l fuel tank. Does that sound familiar?

When Triumph released its updated Tiger 1200 range, it wasn't shy in saying it had built a large-capacity adventure bike capable of rivaling the mighty BMW R 1250 GS Adventure in terms and performance and sales.

And after reviewing the bike at its international launch in Portugal, we were mightily impressed by a bike that has been redesigned from the ground up, so much so, we jumped at the chance to welcome a Tiger 1200 GT Explorer to the Adventure Bike Rider long-term fleet.

So, what's the Triumph Tiger like away from the sun-soaked twists and trails of Portugal. Does it still impress on the country lanes and A-roads of the UK. And does this latest incarnation of the Tiger live up to almost a century of British motorcycling heritage?
