En su juventud, F. Guerrero, compuso piezas polifónicas profanas (Villanescas) que en su madurez recopiló y editó variando los textos profanos por otros "a lo divino"

De amores del señor de cielo y tierra
la sposa pastorçica stá herida,
y allá , do stá guardando su ganado,
por él suspira y muestra su cuyado.
¡Ay mi pastor, divina lumbre mía!
¿Quando será ́quel día que vistas mi pobreza
y yo quede vestida ́n tu riqueza?
Que , puesto que ́n mi ser no tengo falta,
quedaré siendo tuya, muy más alta.
