When Jennifer was diagnosed with ALS, her first words to her sister were, “I’m not going to take this disease to the end.”
Knowing she had the option of medical aid in dying under California’s End of Life Option Act gave her peace—and the ability to spend the rest of her life living, not in fear of how she might die. Surrounded by loved ones, Jennifer orchestrated a beautiful, love-filled passing.
Her sister, Jamie McNeil—a retired nurse of more than 30 years—is now working with Georgians for End of Life Options and advocating alongside Death with Dignity to ensure everyone has the right to make their own end-of-life decisions.
