My Last Winter Wild Camp on Scoat Fell via Scoat Tarn in the Lake District with my Hilleberg Soulo.

After parking on the green at Wasdale Head I set off back down the road to start the journey up to Scoat Fell Summit via Scoat Tarn. The weather is sunny but with a slight chill to remind you it’s still winter. The walk up Nether Beck is beautiful but long, with fast following water falls along the way. I arrive at Scoat Tarn where I chill out enjoying the sunshine and a well deserved brew. I continue on up collecting water along the way before reaching my destination Scoat Fell home for the night. After searching for that flat pitch with some shelter from the predicted weather the next morning I settle into watch an amazing sunset. Night soon comes with cold temperatures as I get cosy in the sleeping bag for the night. The wind starts to pick up and continues through the night it to the early hours, getting stronger all the time, I get very little sleep the weather forecast was spot on this time and my chances of staying another night are zero. At first light I get packed up and make my way down in strong winds back the way a came the following day. The weather is a total contrast to the day before, strong winds, light snow and constant rain all the way day. I arrive back at the road and head back to the car for shelter. An enjoyable camp neither the less with stunning views as always, but challenging conditions.

However the weather in the Lake District can change very quickly from a calm sunny day to totally clagged in and freezing cold.
