Following a string of successes, including her Oscar-winning turn in Mildred Pierce, Joan Crawford continued her quest for meaty roles at Warner Bros. However, she runs into professional barriers due to star behavior and aging. Yet, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, Crawford perseveres until she leaves WB for greener pastures as an independent movie star and earns her final Oscar nomination for Sudden Fear.
