As we drove from Los Angeles, California to San Diego, California, the sight of this state beach caught my attention, and I couldn't resist taking a video of it.
San Elijo State Beach offers swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, skim boarding, showers, picnicking, and camping. Campsite reservations are available through Reserve America and can be made up to six months in advance. The narrow, sandy beach, fringed by bluffs, has a nearby reef that is popular with snorkelers and divers. At low tide, there is also a tide pool where many walk to observe marine life.
The campground is ideal for families and friends. It is located on a bluff directly above the beach. Photographers can capture the perfect sunset here. Jellyfish are common in the area; many see them either during the day or at low tide.
